I can’t deny it - I am incredibly saddened by this news. Hitchen’s is a man I look up to and admire. I will miss his interviews and his writing and his wonderful way of owning the stage when he’s on it.

Why are you saddened? If there is no God, sadness is just a series of chemical reactions. But if you are going to feel an emotion, why not let it be gladness? Could you bring yourself to believe cancer is just a process by which natural selection weeds out the weaker to make way for the fittest? In your worldview, Hitchens’ death could be a good thing. If you even believe in such a thing as “good.”
